BENITEZ NOT WORRIED

Former Liverpool and Valencia manager Rafa Benitez has said that he will not be out of work for long once he leaves Chelsea at the end of the season. Since leaving Inter Milan after just six months, Benitez found himself out of work for almost 2 years before being hired by Chelsea.

However, he feels that he has done an extremely good job with the current European champions in such a way that it will not take long for him to find work again. Benitez is on course to winning the Europa league with Chelsea this season.

Chelsea fans have never accepted the former Liverpool man on allegations that he has been heavily critical of the West London outfit during his time at Liverpool. However, Benitez repeatedly stated that he was not going to be worried about the criticism from the fans because he is a professional and he wants Chelsea to win as long as he is contracted to them.
Due to the vocal disapproval from Chelsea fans, which has not subsided even after several months, Chelsea are not expected to renew the contract of Benitez wants it comes to an end this season. Hence, he could be on the market for a new club once again.

"A coach or manager has to concentrate on winning games and then your agent can talk to people. I prefer just to talk about what I'm doing now and what I want to do on Sunday. I have a contract until the end of the season. If I say 'yes' we'll have another... Someone will maybe interpret it in a different way. I don't want to create a situation that might destabilise where we are at the moment. At the moment we are so close to the end of the season and we have so many important games and I have to concentrate on games," said Benitez.

ALLEGRI LIKES DROGBA

The AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has indicated that he would be glad to see the presence of the striker Didier Drogba at the club.

The Ivory Coast international is currently at the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua after leaving Chelsea on a free transfer at the end of the last season. He helped the Premier league club lift the Champions League title for the first time in their history, and he is still regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. Even though Drogba is 34 years of age, he has managed to keep himself fit and still has plenty of years left in him.

AC Milan had been struggling a lot without the lack of prolific strikers in the Italian league. The presence of the youngster Stephan El Shaarawy has not been able to compensate for the loss of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while the recent loss of Alexandre Pato only adds to the struggles for the team. Milan have identified Drogba as a potential transfer target in January given that the striker is keen to return to Europe. Many clubs like Juventus and Chelsea were linked with him a few weeks ago, but they have dropped out of the running. Allegri, though, has indicated that Drogba will make for a great signing.

"Champions of his (Drogba) calibre are very welcome. (Vice-president Adriano) Galliani will know if the deal is feasible. I'm calm, the club is just thinking about what could help us out and what we could do about it. A player like Drogba would certainly improve both the technical level and self-esteem of the team. We'll see what the club are able to do, otherwise we'll carry on as we are, looking to have a good second half of the season because that is our objective," said Allegri.

LIVERPOOL LINKED TO DROGBA

Liverpool have identified the former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba as the man to solve the striker crisis at the club. The 34-year-old striker is currently playing for the club Shanghai Shenhua, but the season in the Chinese football is about to get completed.

This means that Didier Drogba will not have any matches to play before the start of the African cup of nations. In order to improve his fitness by the time the tournament starts, it is thought that the Ivory Coast international will be looking to play for another team in the meantime. Liverpool are in a striker crisis at the moment after having sold Andy Carroll on loan deal till the end of the season.

The summer acquisition Fabio Borini has also been recently injured, thus meaning that the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be without any other striker other than Luis Suarez for the next three months. This will mean an incredible workload on the Uruguay striker, who has played in every match for the club so far this season. Didier Drogba may have been not offered a contract by Chelsea, but he still regarded as one of the best players in the world after almost single-handedly helping the club win the Champions League last season.

In order to maintain his fitness, Didier Drogba is expected to be training with the Premier league club. However, such a move is subject to the agreement from the Chinese club, while several Premier league conditions also have to be met. It is, however, not new to Merseyside club to bring in a player for a few months after Everton have had extraordinary success with the LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan, who came to the club in two different loan spells. Didier Drogba will captain the Ivory Coast side who have qualified for the African cup of nations in January.

STILL NO PEACE

Shanghai Shenhua owner Zhu Jun has said that there is still not peace at the club over the boardroom dispute between him and the other shareholders at the club. The billionaire owner Zhu Jun is currently the main reason for the club to be having players like Nicolas Anelka and Didier Drogba on-board.

Both players are thought to be earning close to £ 250,000 per week, which would have been unimaginable in Europe. Due to the fact that the Chinese league still does not generate a lot of revenue itself, Shanghai Shenhua depends a lot upon the owner Zhu Jun to fund the club.

However, he is not happy with the club do to the fact that the other board members have backtracked on their word that he would be given majority stake in the club after a few years. It has been five seasons of constant development at the club without Zhu Jun getting any majority stake. As a result, he is threatening to pull out of the club, which would threaten the entire existence of the club itself. It would also mean that Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka could be released from their contracts.

"Now, I made a difficult decision to believe you one more time, one last time! And this time I have a deadline: two weeks," said the owner in a recent interview. "If this issue is not resolved satisfactorily, from October Zhu Jun might take action. If the issue of Drogba's salary is still not effectively handled, he might again book a ticket home," said a close source to the club on the national newspaper. Following the arrival of Didier Drogba, the club has been making consistent improvements in the league position. They are currently ninth in the table, which is a major improvement from the 14th position.

LUIZ WILL NOT FOLLOW DROGBA

The Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo has confirmed that he does not expect the defender David Luiz to be sold by the club in the remaining few days of the transfer window. The Brazilian international David Luiz has become subject to intense transfer rumours in the last few days.

He was initially linked with a move to Manchester city for around £ 30 million, but the Manchester city manager Roberto Mancini recently confirmed that there is no truth in the story whatsoever. The player was a £ 20 million signing from Benfica 18 months ago and he has become one of the best defenders in England during this period.

David Luiz has already been hugely successful in his short spell at Stamford bridge. He has lifted the Champions League and FA Cup title last season. Even though Chelsea have made a number of signings in the attacking areas of the pitch, they have made no major signings in the defensive side of things. As a result, it is highly unlikely that David Luiz will be sold with only a few days of transfer activity remaining. Barcelona have become the latest club to be linked with the player.

“David Luiz is part of our long-term future here. It’s normal that he gets interest. It doesn’t concern me. I think the player will be here in the long term. If you look at the profile of the players that come in you are looking at players who will be here for the next four or five years. They are all very young players. You are looking for them to be the platform for the future of this club. I don’t expect a revolution or anything like that," said Roberto di Matteo regarding the future of David Luiz and the club's transfer policy this season.

BEST OPTION WAS ROBERTO

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has said that the decision made by the club to the interim manager Roberto di Matteo the permanent job is the best possible decision for the club.

Chelsea appointed Roberto di Matteo as the interim manager until the end of the season after the sacking of former FC Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Even though the Italian failed to guide the team into the top four, he achieved the impossible by winning the Champions League for the first time in the history of the club and also an FA Cup trophy as well. However, it was thought that the club were looking at the possibility of bringing in former Barcelona manager Guardiola, with the idea that Lionel Messi might follow...

There was many calls for the appointment of the Italian to be made permanent this season. However, Chelsea only recently confirmed that he would be the next Chelsea manager after going through all the options. Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, who left the club in the summer after his contract came to an end, has said that he is extremely pleased for Roberto di Matteo. Drogba has one every major trophy possible with Chelsea in his eight years with the club, which he terms as the most special in his career.

"I think we have had so many managers and all of them brought something special to Chelsea" he told Chelsea news. "All of them, I think, were part of our success. When [Jose] Mourinho came, he built up the spirit that we kept all these years. When Carlo Ancelotti came, he also brought another way of playing and thinking. So, it’s difficult to choose one. The most remembered would be Roberto Di Matteo for winning the Champions League. The club was waiting for that," said Didier Drogba about the appointment of Roberto di Matteo.

DROGBA SUFFERS ABUSE

A Chelsea football club fan has been banished from football games for next three years after he abused Chelsea striker Drogba.

Stephen Fitzwater, the banned Chelsea fan, was watching the semi final game of FA Cup against Tottenham on 15th April when he was found out of delivering a racist comment at the Ivory Coast international.

Other Chelsea fans took offence and told it to a steward and Stephen Fitzwater was caught by the football intelligence unit of Scotland Yard. The 55 year old fan from west London’s Isleworth, acknowledged that he abused racially, Hendon magistrates' court.

He was delivered a 3 – year ban form football will stop him from going into any regulated football match in the United Kingdom and Chelsea, also, banned him for life. In a statement, a spokesperson from the Chelsea Football Club told that Chelsea Football Club and the overwhelming majority of their fans abhor all forms of discrimination and believe they have no place in our club or our communities.

The club will be taking the strongest possible action against this individual, who has received a football banning order along with a lifetime ban from Chelsea Football Club. They would also like to thank Chelsea fans for reporting this incident and others that occurred during the semi-final, as a result of which a number of persons have been banned for using racial and abusive language.

LUIZ DENIES ACCUSATIONS

Chelsea defender David Luiz has denied accusations that Didier Drogba was making fun of the fact that Chelsea have drawn Benfica in the quarter-final stage of the Champions League. Chelsea had to progress to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League after some difficulty.

They lost the first leg match against Napoli 3-1, which all but ended their hopes of progressing. However, spectacular turnaround in the second leg, which they won 4-1, meant that they entered into the draw for the quarter-finals. There was a distinct possibility of Chelsea drawing against the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. However, they were drawn against one of the underdogs in the form of Benfica.

The Chelsea official website released a video that showed Didier Drogba feigning fear after the draw was made. This has infuriated Benfica, who have said that Didier Drogba will be made to pay for his actions when the two sides meet on Tuesday night.

However, Chelsea defender David Luiz, who signed from Benfica in January 2011, has said that Didier Drogba was expressing his fear at the prospect of facing Barcelona in the semifinals and it had not been a disrespect to Benfica.

"If people watch the video closely, it's not directed at Benfica. He was talking about Barcelona because Barcelona are a very, very big team. Chelsea know how Benfica reached this far. They're a strong team. Drogba's character wouldn't allow him to disrespect another team," David Luiz said ahead of the first leg encounter between the two clubs in Lisbon.

Drogba was a crucial player in enabling Chelsea qualify for this stage of the competition after is quite remarkable performance against Napoli. However, Drogba has not scored since his opening goal against Napoli a few weeks ago, and is unlikely to start in the match.

DROGBA REFUTES TEAM TALK RUMOURS

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has said that he was not giving a half-time team talk in the tunnel during the FA Cup match with Birmingham city.

Didier Drogba is one of the most influential members of the Chelsea squad. He has just returned to the Chelsea squad after spending time with his international team Ivory Coast at the 2012 African cup of nations.

As a result of his recent return from international football, Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas decided to use Fernando Torres as the main striker. Didier Drogba was on the bench, but Andre Villas-Boas soon realised that he will not be able to progress into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup without the services of the Ivorian.

Chelsea were trailing at the break to a goal from Birmingham city early in the first half. As a result, Didier Drogba was brought on in place of Fernando Torres at the start of the second half. Prior to the players coming out onto the pitch, Didier Drogba was spotted giving a team talk to the players. This has sparked of rumours that it was indeed Didier Drogba who had given the half-time team talk in the dressing room. This has seriously undermined the authority of Andre Villas-Boas at Chelsea.

"I want to make things clear - the manager made the speech at half-time and after that I think he's got some leaders in the team. We are here to help him. After that we were trying to bring the team up after half-time and nothing more. We did what the manager wanted us to do and apply what he was saying. I think people are making a big thing about nothing," he said. Chelsea could only draw the match against Birmingham city, and they will be facing the FA Cup replay in the first week of March.

DROGBA IS STAYING

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has all but confirmed that star striker Didier Drogba will be a Chelsea player after the end of the African cup of nations. The striker, who joined from Marseille in the summer of 2004 for a club record fee of £ 24 million, is out of contract at the end of the season.

As a result of it, he is now eligible to discuss his future with potential clubs. He could also sign for a club on a free transfer due to his age and service to Chelsea. This would come as a major blow for Chelsea given that they are fighting to stay in the top four.

Tottenham have been extremely brilliant season, while Manchester City and Manchester United continue to fight for the title. Chelsea, meanwhile, are in a period of transition, as they attempt to replace the older players at Stamford bridge. This has led to speculation that players like Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba will be departing the club at the end of the season or in the January transfer window. Manchester United even considered making a bid for Frank Lampard, who has been at the club for 10 years.

However, manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that both Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba will be Chelsea players after the end of this transfer window. "He's going to be here for sure. Yes, long-term. They will return to this club from the African Nations and hopefully we will hold on to them until the end of the season. That's our intention, and I think their willingness as well," Villas-Boas said ahead of the match with Sunderland. Chelsea are supposedly in negotiations with Lille midfielder Eden Hazard, who is thought to have a release clause of around £ 33 million in his contract.
