Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has reacted to the sacking of former Blues teammate Frank Lampard as the manager at the club. Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba spent several years together at Chelsea and they both played their respective parts in helping Chelsea to win a lot of major trophies. Frank Lampard is the all-time leading goalscorer in the history of Chelsea and he was given the managerial job at the start of last season. Frank Lampard had to endure the lack of new signings due to a transfer ban but he didn’t let that disturb him.
Lampard did well to lead Chelsea back to the Champions League for the second successive season after the Blues finished fourth on the log at the end of last season. Frank Lampard and Chelsea also reached the FA Cup final before they were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal.
Frank Lampard paid the price for the recent run of poor results in the league with his job after the club spent over £200m on new players last summer. He was sacked earlier this week after a poor run of two wins, one draw and five defeats from the last eight league games. Chelsea have since appointed ex-Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) tactician as their new manager and the German manager started his reign as the Blues boss with an uninspiring goalless draw at home to out-of-form Wolves on Wednesday night.
Frank Lampard thanked the Chelsea fans, staffs and those who supported him during his time as the Blues manager via a statement posted on his Instagram post. Ex-Blues teammates Didier Drogba and John Terry responded to his post by showing their support to Lampard as they pointed out that he’s a forever legend. Didier Drogba and John Terry know all about the way Chelsea sack managers frequently during their playing time at the club.
